I love exploring new places, experiencing different cultures and cuisines, meeting people from all walks of life, and capturing some memories that tell a story.
When I started competing in ballroom dancing in the fall of 2000, little did I know that I was being immersed in a world of sequins, rhinestones, and glitter. As an avid photographer, I started documenting my fellow competitors strutting their stuff on stage. When Dancing with the Stars was being launched here in the US in 2005, my photographs of Cheryl Burke, Jonathan Roberts and Anna Trebunskaya became highly sought after, and I found myself published in a major national magazine.
Platform: The Bootleg magazine and website
Role: Photographer and Volleyball Analyst
From 2006-2008, I was a volunteer contributor to The Bootleg, a print and online magazine covering Stanford athletics. I covered Stanford Women's Volleyball, both as a photographer and volleyball analyst. It was a fun way to hone my creative skills while covering a sport I enjoyed playing on a club level in my younger days.
Publication: HP Labs 2008 Annual Report
Role: Photographer
When my research lab decided to produce an annual report, they asked me to assist with the photography. I gladly accepted and proceeded to photograph several of my fellow researchers in various settings around our campus. Lighting was mostly natural, with a reflective umbrella as fill.
Venue: Bar Matchless in Brooklyn
Bands: The Purslaines and Butcher Knives
Date: October 31, 2014
During a recent business trip to New York, I managed catch a concert in the trendy Williamsburg area of Brooklyn. With my Fuji X-E1 and 35mm f/1.4 in tow, I decided to capture some of the scenes from the memorable Halloween night.
